Hi there Alison, To clarify your situation, please examine whether your Office 365 function or college account has been assigned the Office 365 ProPlus permit. To modify files on the Workplace for Macintosh with your account, you need the Workplace 365 ProPlus license.

To verify the permit: Record into the hyperlink: >In the Subscriptions section, look for ' The most recent desktop version of Workplace' under Licenses. You may reveal a screenshot with us. Take note: To publish screenshots, you can click on Use wealthy formatting in the community forum and then click on the symbol of Put/Edit Press.

  1. My organization is also seeing this issue with a single user (Mac Office 2016 Excel). We have tried signing out and signing back in without success. Please bump this bug up in.
  2. I've just downloaded the 2016 Microsoft Word for my mac but I can't even start on a document because a banner at the top states I can't edit on my student account. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.

If you couldn't find it, you may try starting the hyperlink and input your Workplace 365 function or college account to get the Office for free of charge. And then check out if you have got the 'The most recent desktop version of Workplace' under License. If so, sign into the Office app and examine the end result.
